The first stop on my trip this week was Greenwich.

After my trip a couple of weeks ago to the O2 Arena was cut short I didn’t manage to capture the other Greenwich vehicles, hence this being my first stop.

Greenwich is a busy tourist and shopping area on the banks of the River Thames.  Home to the Maritime Museum, the Greenwich Observatory, the Meridian Line, the Greenwich Foot Tunnel link to the Isle of Dogs and of course the Cutty Sark.

Buses services in the area are shared by Arriva Southern Counties(1), East Thames Buses(1), Selkent(3) and Travel London(1) utilising a fleet of Alexander/Transbus ALX400 and Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodied Double Deckers and Plaxton/Transbus Pointer and Alexander Dennis bodied Dart Single Deckers.

As an added bonus, the Docklands Light Railway  was suspended between Canary Wharf and Lewisham to enable engineering work to be undertaken.  Metroline provided several Plaxton Pointer Darts for the Rail Replacement Service.

Yes I know it was 2 weeks ago but I’ve been busy

During a day out with the family, my son professed that he wanted to see the O2 arena so, after a trip to Mudchute Farm and a walk through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, it was onto a Travel London Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini on Route 188 to “The O2″.

I have never been one to plan a lot of bus activity when out with the family but I could have hugged and kissed “mini me” for ages as he had unwittingly placed me in the one location in the area that provided me with a huge opportunity to photograph buses I would have normally missed (being at work all week is such a drag sometimes).

So, with my wife helping out by looking after the kids, I managed to grab an hour at North Greenwich photographing the variety of vehicles being used on the DLR peak hour supplementary bus services between North Greenwich, Greenwich and Lewisham.

Metroline and Kent Coach Travel were the providers, Metroline with several Plaxton Pointer Darts and Kent Coach Travel providing Northern Counties Palatine and East Lancs Pyoneer bodied Olympians.  London Heritage Travel’s AEC Routemaster RM1989 provided a convenient(and rather attractive) control point.

My final video from the 2008 Worcester Park Running Day features preserved AEC Regent III Fleet Number RT2794 arriving at Morden Station whilst working a rounder on Route 164.

I was recently shopping in Enfield Town and noticed that, due to Roadworks, all the current bus stops in Church Street have been taken out of use and a new bus stop has been provided outside the Ryman’s shop near the junction with Silver Street.

The new stop is to the current TfL pattern but what tickled me was the extended E plates to cover the routes serving the stop.  Not, as you would have expected displayed under the Bullseye logo but in fact stencilled on a sticky label and stuck OVER the bullseye.

Just another example of effective cost cutting brought to you by TfL.
