That’s right, I’m back.

Apologies for the lack of content on the site for the past 7 months, I was unfortunately made redundant in November 2008 and have been settling in to a new job (shift work, weekends, bank holidays, etc.) for the past few months.

I am now in a position to resume normal service and, as such, will be uploading in the region of 100 - 150 new photos over the coming weeks, including some locations I have never photographed before.  In addition I will also be adding more videos to my youtube channel and will (hopefully) get back to capturing a few more journeys soon.

My time away from the site has not been wasted however, I am also currently finishing off the production of a new photo DVD covering the past 5 years and I am looking to release it around the end of July.  With over 4500 images of London Bus types past and present, I hope this DVD will provide a useful photo record for both serious and casual enthusiasts alike.

On a final note, many thanks to those regular visitors who have dropped me emails both inquiring about my wellbeing and also suggesting possible new features for the site.  Your ideas have all been considered and several will be implemented in the near future.

After much swearing, cursing and crying I have finally completed the build and product selection for the new London Bus Shop.

Today was my first major outing in over a year. I must admit that, even having kept up with the scene in London via the London Bus Enthusiast & London’s Transport Yahoo Newsgroups of which I am a member, and also reading Buses magazine every month, I was still surprised at the variety of vehicles currently plying their trade in the Capital.

My trip today took me from home to Enfield Town to catch vehicles on the National Express Rail Replacement service from Enfield to Hertford East. I was extremely disappointed to only find one vehicle outside the station and upon questioning one of the station staff I found out that there were only 3 vehicles on the entire service (compared to about 8-10 when One ran my local services).

From Enfield, I caught a train down to Liverpool Street and caught an 11 to Victoria to try my luck with the Victoria Line Rail Replacement. This proved to be a good choice as in just over an hour I took over 80 photos of both the Rail Replacement and normal service vehicles.

From Victoria, I caught the Circle line to Embankment and wandered up to Trafalgar Square where I spent another hour capturing a mixture of service vehicles, ‘heritage’ Routemasters and the wide variety of sightseeing vehicles on duty.

Next stop on my tour was Oxford Circus, here I encountered yet more vehicle variety, and most of it was 3 or 4 different vehicle types on the same route!!! Slight intermissions were taken due to a march by Hare Krishna supporters closely followed by the Salvation Army marching down Oxford Street. This was indeed a great help as it bunched up an awful lot of vehicles and I captured another 80 odd images.

Final stop on my whirlwind tour was back at Liverpool Street which, courtesy of the speed of the Central Line, proved to be even more variety and perfect conditions for photography. So, all in all, 4 locations, in 6 hours, and 280 photos to add to my collection. Hopefully, this will be the start of a return to my old ways of heading out on a Sunday to 4 or 5 places to capture the vehicles in service.

I will be posting galleries of photos from each location I visited over the next week (I have to resize the photos and write the descriptions which can be a lllllllllllooooooooooooonnnnnnggg task). Tonight’s gallery will feature the vehicles used on the Victoria Line underground replacement from Victoria to Brixton.
